Entrepreneurship for Students

"Innovation in healthcare does not just mean new drugs or devices, it means clinical professionals finding new solutions to the problems they face in their daily working lives". Lord Darzi, 2009.

Whether you want to run your own business, become an innovative researcher or excel in your clinical practice, the skills that underpin innovation and entrepreneurial thinking are a must.  These skills are relevant across the different areas of work that you may enter and the ability to demonstrate them can improve your chances at interview and beyond. Some examples of where you may use innovation and enterprise skill include:

Developing a business plan to introduce a new way of working through to developing a business plan to attract funding for your company, idea, research or project.

Managing and influencing multi-disciplinary teams and groups, from patient participation groups through to multi-agency teams.

Negotiating contracts with suppliers or partners, negotiating methods of working with colleagues.

St. George's Centre for Enterprise & Innovation offer a range of seminars, courses and activities to help you develop and evidence these skills. There are a range of competitions and funding opportunities available to help you develop your ideas and to demonstrate you skills. Please use the links to the left to explore current opportunities and do get in touch if you require some help, support or guidance.
